Image Competition Workshop

2018 Image Comp Rules.pdf

Looks like we will have another image competition workshop here in Ottawa, in the downstairs banquet room of Smoked Creations on Jan 7, 2018 or if the weather is not cooperating will use Jan. 21 as an alternate date.  Please park somewhere in the lower level and use the banquet room entrance. The program will start the program at 10:30am. and end about 3:30 or 4:00pm.  Lunch and snacks will be provided. So start working on your images so you too can take part this workshop? Everyone is invited so even if you don't want to bring images, it is okay to come and hear the comments and see some new techniques.

Looking to make this be more hands-on than just a critique of images.  We will start of by critiquing one or two images from each participant and then working individually with them on improving their image.  Participants should bring all the elements that make up their entry and their computer.  Start now to pick out your favorite 3 or 4 images.  The Jury will then review them, and then break up to work with each participant.  Questions have been asked in the past about terms used by the jury, like:  toning down, color casts, image presentation, etc., bring your questions!  The Jury will be using the hands-on time to explain and demonstrate some of these terms.

The jurors will not be making merit images for you, but rather a demonstration of what is need to improve your scores.  I know the jurors have given guidelines in the past to improve images, but often when they are entered nothing suggested has been done.  Possibly participants do not know how to do what was suggested and this will be a chance to learn a new technique.

If bringing a computer is a problem, there will be a couple of extra computers available with a version of Photoshop and Lightroom on them to use.

If you have any questions or comments to improve the workshop, let me know.
